Temporary banners and flags to promote one-off events and festivals

Since autumn 2013, the following events and festivals have been promoted using temporary banners and flags in the city centre:

Bath Children’s Literature Festival; Bath Literature Festival; Bath International Music Festival; Bath Christmas Market; Tour of Britain cycling event; The Bath Festival; the Roman Baths; Victoria Art Gallery; the Fashion Museum; Bath Film Festival; Great Bath Feast; Dorothy House charity events; RUH/Forever Friends charity events.

At present, temporary banners and flags to promote one-off events and festivals can be displayed on lamp columns in the following areas – Orange Grove; Manvers Street; Brunel Square; Southgate Street; and a few other locations in the city centre.

At present, temporary banners and flags promoting events are permitted for limited periods: a maximum of 3 weeks at one time, with a gap of 3 weeks before the next display, and for only 12 weeks per year in any one location.

At present, Bath & North East Somerset Council checks the quality of the design and appearance of banners and flags before approving them to go up. The Council also checks that they are erected safely, and that the event promoter keeps them in good condition.
