Road users are being advised about extensions to maintenance work being carried out under a Bath city centre road.
Engineers and surveyors at Bath and North East Somerset Council are checking underneath Bridge Street following reports of some depressions in the road.
The work which began yesterday, is being extended to include a lane closure along one side of the road. This means that public transport, taxis and cyclists will not be able to cross from Bridge Street into Great Pulteney Street. Traffic travelling across the bridge from the opposite direction will not be affected.
Diversions are being put in place and bus operators notified of the temporary diversions.
Parts of the road are being coned off while the work is being carried out and there are parking and loading restrictions during the work.
The works are expected to be completed within a week with disruption kept to a minimum. It is not anticipated that the road will be fully closed.
Councillor Mark Shelford, cabinet member for Transport and Environment, said: “We are carrying out some maintenance work underneath Bridge Street and parts of the road need to be coned off. We are sorry for any in convenience but we hope to keep any traffic disruption to a minimum and we thank people for their patience.”
