The Disabled Children's Team work with children and their families where a child has learning difficulties/disabilities and/or a physical and/or sensory impairment. We also work with children who have long-term, or life threatening illness. We can meet with you and your child to discuss what support and help you need. We may work with you ourselves, or we may organise other support. We provide details of services and resources available to disabled children and their families, and we provide information on childcare, play schemes, youth clubs and other social activities.
Our Occupational Therapist assesses the needs of disabled children, offering advice on how to improve their quality of life as well as providing aids, adaptations and equipment, where appropriate. Advice is also available on moving and handling disabled children.
We offer a weekday duty service to disabled children living in the Bath & North East Somerset area.
To contact us, please ring the duty officer between 8.30 and 5 Monday to Thursday or 8.30 and 4.30 on Fridays on 01225 396967; email Kristy_Tyack@bathnes.gov.uk / Raj_Atwal@bathnes.gov.uk or write to us at Disabled Children’s Team, Bath and North East Somerset Council, Lewis House, Manvers Street, Bath, BA1 1JG.
