There's lots of support available for children and families in Bath and North East Somerset to prevent difficult situations from getting worse and ensuring that every child can have the best possible start in life.
The Family Intervention Team aim to promote successful family relationships encompassing the individual needs of each family member, reducing risk and preventing family breakdown. Advice and support is available on many issues including:
- Positive parenting
- Routines and boundaries
- Family relationships
- Building confidence and self-esteem
- Behaviour management
- Managing feelings
- Theraplay
New Way is a service that works alongside parents and carers with children to look at issues of domestic abuse and the impact it has on the children.
Stepping Stones offers support for families to understand and manage the impact of parental mental health difficulties on their children. The service is delivered in peer support and parent-child groups.
Footprints supports mothers and fathers who have had children removed from their care who want to go on and parent in the future.
Self referrals are welcomed for New Way, Stepping Stones and Footprints. Please refer to individual leaflets for more information.
Family Group Conferences offer family members a chance to get together, to find out about what is happening in the family, and to discuss how to sort out any problems. More information can be found on our FGC page.
