Are you a voluntary or community group in Bath and North East Somerset and looking for office items, or furniture for your activities?  Or do you have spare things that you would like to offer to another local organisation?  Look no further!

The Council is helping voluntary and community groups in Bath and North East Somerset connect with local organisations that have 100s of surplus  items to give away to new homes.

The Bath & North East Somerset Community network is the local group launched as part of the national online re-use network called WARPit (the name stands for Waste Action Re-use Portal).

The aims of the WARPit network are simple;Image of WARPit logo

  • to save your group money
  • reduce waste by saving usable items going to landfill
  • encourage local groups to support each other.

It is free to register your group as a network member; then you’ll be able to give away and take as many items as you wish.  You have to be a charity, social enterprise, community or faith group delivering a social objective to join. So, sports clubs, scouts and brownies and any groups serving a social or charitable purpose can join.

The types of items you’ll find on the WARPit network include furniture, fixtures and fittings, stationery, files, curtains even office plants!  Please note, that electrical items cannot be traded.

There is a growing regional network in the area which includes Bath & North East Somerset Council, Avon & Somerset Police, several universities and schools.  These organisations are members of WARPit because they often have surplus items which they would like to pass onto local organisations in a safe legal controlled manner. Items are uploaded all the time so keep your eye out for new items being added.  Organisations may also notify members if they are planning a big clearout so even if you don’t need anything immediately you might wish to register your group.

If you'd like to join WARPit  please register by following this link: warp-it.co.uk/bathnescommunity .  The two videos below explain how WARPit works.
