Special Educational Needs (SEN) and Disabilities Local Offer
Welcome to Bath and North East Somerset’s Local Offer Homepage for Special Educational Needs (SEN) and Disabilities (SEND).
As part of the Children and Families Act 2014, all Local Authorities are required to publish a Local Offer of the support and services we expect to be available for children and young people aged 0 – 25 with Special Educational Needs (SEN) or Disability (SEND).
*New* SEND Capital Consultation Document
The SEND Capital Fund Program is a joint funded approach to increasing educational placements for children with SEND in the local area by developing on existing provision both in mainstream schools, special schools and colleges. Please see attached documents in the sidebar for further information.
*New* SEND Tribunal - Single Route of Redress National Trial
The Government are extending the powers of the First-tier Tribunal (SEND), sometimes referred to as the ‘SEND Tribunal’, to make non-binding recommendations about the health and social care aspects of Education, Health and Care (EHC) plans as part of a two-year trial. The trial will apply to decisions made or EHC plans issued/amended from 3 April 2018. Please find further details about this pilot here or under attached documents in the sidebar.
The Local Offer puts all the information about education, health and care services, leisure activities and support groups in one place. It has two main purposes:
- to provide clear, comprehensive and accessible information about the support and opportunities that are available for children and young people with SEN;
- to make provision more responsive to local needs and aspirations for children and young people with SEN
Please use the buttons on the SEN Dashboard below to see specific sections of our Local Offer:
