  • Support visits focusing on closing the attainment gap
  • Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) Profile Moderation
  • Setting up provision for two year olds / wraparound childcare
  • A high quality, affordable Continuing Professional Development (CPD) programme
  • Support for practitioners new to, or returning to, the EYFS

Support to schools judged Inadequate or Requires Improvement

The Early Years Service works in partnership with the School Improvement and Achievement Service to offer a tailored package of support.

Support visits focusing on closing the attainment gap

These visits will support practitioners to be confident in talking about the accuracy of baseline data, identifying the emerging needs of the cohort, planning appropriate interventions and monitoring children’s  progress.

EYFS Profile Moderation

All schools access the  annual programme supporting their statutory responsibilities around early years assessment. Schools will need to ‘purchase’ the moderation package on the Hub to access support materials.  There is no charge for this.

Setting up provision for two year olds / wraparound childcare

Schools are now encouraged to extend their nursery provision to include two year olds.  Follow this link for further information on practical considerations:  Setting up a childcare business

Continuing Professional Development Programme

All CPD opportunities are detailed on the EYFS section of the online Hub.  All bookings must be made via the Hub.  All schools have a log in and individual practitoners can also obtain their own login.

Practitioners new or returning to the EYFS

The Early Years Service offers a range of CPD opportunities to help teachers and Teaching Assistants, new or returning to the EYFS, to get off to a good start in their new roles.  The autumn induction sessions will help practitioners to reflect on EYFS vision and values, effectively put these into practice in the classroom and to understand the EYFS assessment.
