Newly Qualified Social Worker

If you are graduating from your social work degree, we want to hear from you and we welcome applications from practitioners who are about to qualify.

What we offer

Here at Bath and North East Somerset, we want to ensure that our newly qualified social workers receive the best possible training and support. We ensure that this is targeted and focused to provide a bridge from initial training to confident and competent practice. Our goal is to provide a firm foundation of skills and knowledge that will be the basis for long term career and professional development.

When you begin your career with us you will be appointed as a family support practitioner until you have graduated and completed your Social Work England registration. We believe in providing all our newly qualified social workers with comprehensive support and development to help ensure you complete your dissertation. The whole of our Team is committed to ensuring you have a reduced caseload with regular support, supervision and peer support sessions in your first assessed year in practice.

We believe this to be key during your assessed year in practice together with dedicated professional development time and shadowing opportunities.

Supervision framework

Our guarantee to you –

  • In your first 6 weeks of employment you will receive weekly 1:1 sessions

  • After 6 weeks of employment - this will increase to bi-weekly sessions for a period of 6 months and will include monthly peer supervision sessions during the year.
