Bath Tour of Britain 2016 - A tremendous success!

The Tour of Britain Stage 5 Finish in Bath on Thursday September 8, was a tremendous success.

Over 10,000 people visited the Cycle Village to watch the live finish on Royal Avenue, with more watching along the route.

The weather was perfect and The Tour’s organisers, local schools and organisations who attended and the sponsors were very pleased with the day.

Headteacher of Cameley School, Hannah Maggs, said: “This was a – nearly- whole school trip from Year 1 through to Year 6.  All of the children had an amazing day with lots of fun activities and events on offer.  The cycling was phenomenal and we were so impressed with the speed and furious racing of the riders!”

It is anticipated that the 2016 Tour of Britain stage finish will benefit the local economy in excess of £500,000. This takes into account visitor spend in cafes / shops / hotels as well as future tourism as a result of the global publicity

The stage finish was also broadcast live across the UK, France, Italy, Belgium, New Zealand, USA and Canada, with highlights across the rest of Europe, Australia and Asia (China, Japan, Thailand and Vietnam).
