Following a request from local ward members in Keynsham to have Park Road and West View Road included in a Transport Improvement Programme, in July of this year the Traffic Management Team at Bath and North East Somerset Council consulted residents of these two roads, on a number of traffic management proposals.  The complete proposals included raised speed tables and cushions, road narrowing and delineated parking bays. Residents were invited to comment, and around one third duly responded.

After listening to the views of residents, the following measures are proposed to be implemented, subject to the confirmation of funding in 2019/20:

  • The pedestrian island at the junction of West View Road and Charlton Road will be upgraded, including the installation of dropped kerbs;
  • A priority road narrowing will be introduced in Park Road at the junction with Hawthorne Lane, which will formalise current driving practices;
  • Existing advisory single white lines across driveway entrances will be repainted;
  • Any redundant disabled parking bays will be removed.

Double yellow lines are also proposed to be introduced at the various junctions along Park Road, to improve visibility and prevent parking across dropped kerbs.  This would include the replacement of existing advisory markings at some of the junctions. To view a copy of the proposals on a plan, please see the documents section on this page.

It is currently anticipated that the proposals will be progressed early in the next financial year if funding is confirmed.  This will include formal consultation on the proposed double yellow line parking restrictions, as a statutory legal process.
