Odd Down Sports Ground is one of 5 sites managed by leisure operator Greenwich Leisure Limited (GLL) in Bath and North East Somerset. We plan to upgrade facilities at the site to encourage more people to use the health and fitness resources at Odd Down.
We are asking for your thoughts on potential improvements at the site. Once we have your feedback, we can prioritise upgrades that will make a difference for regular users and residents.
The wider policy context
Our Corporate Strategy sets out what we as a council plan to do, how we plan to do it, and how we will measure our performance. Our main aim is to improve people's lives, and so we are following two core policies to do this: tackling the climate and ecological emergency and giving people a bigger say.
Encouraging cycling and other active travel methods is an essential part of our efforts to tackle the climate emergency. Our Getting Around Bath transport strategy and our Active Travel Schemes aim to improve walking and cycling routes in the area to encourage active travel.
Making active travel methods safer will support the health of residents, reduce carbon emissions and help us tackle the climate emergency.
We will also look to increase biodiversity at the site by exploring opportunities for tree planting and habitat creation. We will conduct a full ecological survey and Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) assessment as part of the planning process.
We also want to give you, our residents, a bigger say about things that affect you. Responding to this consultation will allow you to have your say.
The policy context for this project
Improving local physical activity levels is a central part of our new physical activity, weight and food strategy. This plan is currently in development, and we will publish this strategy later this year.
Upgrading the facilities at Odd Down Sports Ground and increasing site usage will support the aims of this strategy, allowing more residents to achieve their health goals and increase their physical activity levels.
