The Georgian Room, Guildhall

The historic Georgian Room is an original part of the Guildhall building designed by Thomas Baldwin and completed in 1778. The room can accommodate up to 50 people and is available Fridays and Saturdays We can work with you to create a bespoke and personal ceremony that will reflect who you are as a couple.

Additional information

If you would like to personalise your ceremony, you can include readings, poems or piece of music as part of your ceremony. We can play joyous, classical music, or you can play your own music via Bluetooth or CD.

Photos and videos

If you’re using an official photographer, they’re welcome to take photos throughout the ceremony. You will also be asked if you’re happy for your guests to take photos on their phones and share to social media. If you would like one of your guests to make a recording of your ceremony, please let the Registrar know.

Once your ceremony has finished, there is the opportunity to have a photo of just the two of you on the marble staircase as your guests leave the building. You may have further photos on the steps of the Guildhall as you exit through the south door.

Confetti

Biodegradable confetti may be thrown as you exit the Guildhall onto the high street. No confetti can be thrown whilst inside the Guildhall building. Confetti cannons are not permitted anywhere in Bath and North East Somerset.

Giving Notice

If you wish to get married or enter into a civil partnership, you must sign a legal statement at your local register office to say you intend to get married or form a civil partnership. This is known as ‘giving notice’.
