We wish to continue the Public Health services delivered by Community Pharmacies, which include:
- smoking cessation support
- sexual and reproductive health services
HCRG Care Group will cease subcontracting these services on behalf of our Public Health team on Monday 31 March 2025. We want to have new, direct contracts between our Public Health team and Community Pharmacies to be in place from Tuesday 1 April 2025. We intend to award these contracts for a minimum of four years to 31 March 2029, with the potential for a further extension of two years to 31 March 2031.

The focus of the smoking cessation service is to offer behavioural support and advice to clients who want to stop smoking. It also includes the provision of nicotine replacement therapy, which provides a low level of nicotine, without the poisonous chemicals present in tobacco smoke, reducing harm and reducing unpleasant withdrawal effects.
The focus of the service is to provide three sexual and reproductive health information, advice and support by delivering:
- Emergency Hormonal Contraception (EHC) free of charge to service users aged under 24 years old, according to the approved Patient Group Direction (PGD)
- Ccard condom packs free of charge to service users aged 13 to 24 years old with a valid physical or virtual B&NES Ccard
- pregnancy tests free of charge to service users aged 13 to 24 years old
