CIL funding applications consultation

Who we are consulting and why

We are asking you to help us decide which of these shortlisted projects should receive funding from the Neighbourhood Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) for Bath. The CIL is a charge which is payable for some new building developments, to be spent on projects which benefit the community.

Public consultation on which projects you think most deserve funding is a required part of our decision-making process when allocating CIL money.

What we are consulting on

We are asking for your opinions on whether any of the projects listed below should receive funding from the CIL for Bath.

Find out more about each option below, then use our online form to tell us which projects you think should receive some money.

Projects

West of England Rural Network - Village Agents for Bath

WERN's mission is to work with rural communities, organisations, groups, and individuals across the West of England to improve the quality of their lives.

They say: There is no other service that offers a home visit to discuss non-specific problems, or complex situations where it is not obvious where to start. We unpick the details, making manageable steps towards signposting and onward referrals. This funding will allow us to bring those that are under the radar, are isolated and may feel they have been forgotten into contact with the help and support they now need. Securing 3 Village Agent posts will make a significant difference to Bath residents.

Percy Centre Lighting upgrade

A project to upgrade Percy Centre lighting, from sodium-based floodlighting to LED units. To improve the facility, increase access, reduce costs, and cut carbon emissions.

They say: The continuing growth in residential and student living in the area has contributed to a growing demand for leisure facilities. Over recent years, with the support of B&NES and Bath & West Community Energy, we have replaced all other lighting both inside and outside with LED units. This will be the final step towards making our lighting 100% LED.

Ride to work by Bike Transition Bath

The project seeks to encourage residents of Bath to switch from commuting to work by car to commuting by electric bike. Supporting commuters and businesses to reduce traffic congestion, carbon emissions and air pollution.

They say: We provide free loan electric bikes to residents who  currently  commute to work by car to encourage  them  to  switch  to  cycling  by providing participants and their employers with comprehensive support, minimising barriers. We plan to expand the project to target homeowners more specifically at new developments and companies newly setting up in Bath. This project directly addresses one of the outcomes of more development in Bath – congestion and air pollution caused by cars.
