This privacy notice focuses on social housing that is operated and managed by Bath & North East Somerset Council. This notice relates exclusively to residential accommodation, where the Council is the landlord of any properties let to social housing tenants through the Homesearch scheme. This notice does not apply to supported housing, shared ownership properties, tenancies created to provide temporary accommodation for homeless households or leased, residential homes, where the freehold is held by Bath & North East Somerset Council.

How long is the personal data retained by the Council?
Personal data will only be retained for as long as it is needed for the purpose specified above, or as required by applicable law or regulatory requirements.
The Council will maintain information on its tenancies – including tenants’ names, dates of birth and the type and length of their tenancies – for up to 75 years to assess qualifying Right to Buy applications. Records that are otherwise created for the purposes of administration, management or any other purposes related to the social housing will be retained for up to 7 years after the cessation of involvement between parties.
