The purpose of processing

To use contact and financial details for administration of the tenant's account.

How is it used?

Contacting the tenant for billing and statutory notification purposes, as well as chasing of any arrears payments
We will keep up to date records of contact details of tenants in order to provide them with any issues that may affect their tenancy in the future

Article 6.1 b - Necessary to performance of a contract
We comply with the provisions of the Landlord and Tenant Act 1954 and subsequent revisions.

Sharing of personal data with external recipients

Results of financial assessments are shared with providers who deliver services under contract on the Council’s behalf. These may include money laundering investigation agencies and debt recovery agencies. Contractors carrying out repairs to property may in some cases require an on-site contact. Personal data is routinely shared with the Council’s Legal and Financial Services teams as an essential part of maintaining the contractual agreement with the tenant.

How long is the personal data retained by the Council?

Personal data will only be retained for as long as it is needed for the purpose specified above, or as required by applicable law or regulatory requirements. Once a tenant has been charged for a tenancy, by law we are required to retain financial records.
