Privacy Notice for B&NES Sustainable Travel Surveys for Schools

The purpose of processing

To mitigate travel-related issues associated with school travel (e.g. activity levels of pupils, congestion around the school gate, air quality). Schools will use their own school travel surveys as part of a consultation with the school community to inform their School Travel Plan.

How is it used?

Schools will use data from school travel surveys to inform their School Travel Plan
B&NES Council will use data to inform policy and support services within the council
Data may be shared with our West of England partners to promote sustainable travel in the wider region and to inform policy and practice
Postcode data will be used to inform travel-related measures for specific school sites (e.g. Walking Bus)

Sharing of personal data with external recipients

Data will be shared with: schools which took part in a School Travel Survey, stakeholders who we are working with to develop travel-related measures, West of England partners, including; University of the West of England, Bristol City
Council, North Somerset Council, South Gloucestershire Council. All data shared with external recipients is anonymised and will be used for the purposes of supporting and developing sustainable travel within Bath and North East Somerset, and the wider West of England region. Postcode data will only be shared with the participant’s school.

How long is the personal data retained by the Council?

Personal data will only be retained for as long as it is needed for the purpose specified above, or as required by applicable law or regulatory requirements.
