To enable statutory public consultations to be carried out to obtain the views of the community and interested stakeholders in order to inform decision making of school organisation proposals such as expansion or closure.

The Council’s role in this purpose is established by statute. The School Organisation (Prescribed Alterations to Maintained Schools) (England) Regulations 2013 (‘the Prescribed Alterations Regulations’). The School Organisation (Establishment and Discontinuance of Schools) Regulations 2013 (‘the Establishment and Discontinuance Regulations’). Education and Inspections Act (EIA) 2006 (as amended by the Education Act (EA) 2011) and the Prescribed Alterations Regulations, Establishment and Discontinuance Regulations and the School Organisation (Removal of Foundation, Reduction in the Number of Foundation Governors and Ability of Foundation to Pay Debts) (England) Regulations (2007).

How long is the personal data retained by the Council?

We will keep your personal data for three years for all general school organisation proposals such as expansion. In the case of school closures, personal data will be retained permanently.
