“We are the People” are a small research team of disabled academics and non-disabled allies engaged in disability research and disability activism.
The team have been awarded a 5-year, £1 million grant from the Wellcome Trust to explore issues which affect disabled people in the South West of England.
The team is looking to work with groups that have experience and knowledge of working with disabled people based in the South West.
3 grants of up to £15,000 are available for groups that are working in one of the following areas:
- People with Dementia and their caregivers and family members
- Disabled people interested in exploring sexual expression (this can include disabled people, sex workers, medical professionals or carers), and
- Disabled people who have experience of working with or being a service user of a Disabled People’s Organisation (DPO).
