Developing skills that support you to manage life as a young adult is important, and something everyone needs to learn and develop. We know that skills are learned throughout life, but we will spend time working on the skills that are most important for you.

Some independent living skills include:
- Being able to manage your relationship with family and friends.
- Know where to go for help and support when you may need it.
- Being able to call and make appointments for yourself.
- Being able to manage your money (including Universal Credit and other Benefits) and budget (there are tools that we can use with you to help with budgeting).
- Using your bank account and online banking.
- Managing a tenancy and preparing you for this.
- Keeping your space clean and tidy.
- Keeping your home and yourself safe.
- Being a good and respectful neighbour.
- Using household appliances such as washing machines, dishwashers, cookers.
- Being able to cook a variety of healthy meals for yourself and others – and understanding food and nutrition.
- Being able to use transport, such as buses, trains, and learning to drive.
Your personal assistant will talk to you about these topics to understand where you are at with each area, which will then be added to your Pathway Plan.
