Use this page to learn about Stage 1 of our public engagement in the development of our Local Plan 2022 to 42: Launch consultation.
What we did
We published a Launch Document for our Local Plan, which explains in broad terms the scope of the Plan, its relationship with other council policy documents, and how we expect to progress its development. Together with this document, we also published documents explaining how the Plan would be delivered through planned developments, and setting out how we will engage with the public and key stakeholders at each stage of the development of the Plan.
We held a six-week public consultation on the contents of the Launch Document, with an online questionnaire. We also held webinars to explain the document and the aims of the Local Plan.
At the same time, we made a call for potential development sites, so we can revise our assessment of available land for housing and economic development (HELAA).
How we have used this information
We published a feedback report, giving detail on who responded to the consultation, and what their main concerns were. This identified:
- Key policy areas, and ambitions within those areas
- Views on how we should engage with stakeholders, and who should be involved
- Ideas about the research we need to do, and the evidence base what we should compile, to support the development of the Plan
The findings in these areas have shaped the topics of discussion, and how we conduct engagement, at the second stage: targeted engagement with key stakeholders and community representatives.
