The Garrick Charitable Trust aims to encourage theatre, music, literature and dance, with a particular focus on helping professional organisations in need of financial support, and – more specifically – to nurture actors, directors, writers, musicians, composers and choreographers in the early stages of their careers.
Grants are normally in the range of £2,500 - £5,000 and may sometimes be granted for more than one year. Organisations that are awarded a grant are asked to wait 3 years before reapplying.
Applicants need to show that the amount of money requested will make a real difference to their organisation’s future, for example by raising the standard of performance or achieving larger audiences.
The Garrick Charitable Trust will only consider applications from organisations which are a UK registered Charity and are involved in theatre, music, dance or literature. They explicitly support proposals which help professionals to develop their careers and this should include an element of genuine and significant mentoring or coaching.
The Trustees meet quarterly usually in March, June, September and December.
To apply, charities should download a copy of the Garrick Charitable Trust application form from the Trust’s website, complete all fields and submit the completed form with all required attachments by email.
Alongside the application form, charities are required to submit their most recent accounts, together with a detailed project budget. Applicants may also wish to include CVs of the people involved in the project, reviews of previous productions or publicity flyers.
