The Naturesave Trust

Grants of between £500 and £5,000 are available to UK community organisations for projects and initiatives that improve the energy efficiency of buildings.

Totnes, Devon-based the Naturesave Trust, is the charitable arm of Naturesave Insurance, which – among other services – provides insurance for charities and not-for-profit organisations.  The Trust was formed to promote and encourage the protection, preservation and improvement of the environment for the benefit of the public, in particular by encouraging the greater adoption of sustainable development through the funding of specific environment and conservation projects.

The theme of the current funding round is ‘Energy Efficiency’.  The Trust’s website states:

“Our buildings are responsible for contributing 20% of the UK’s total emissions, the majority of which come from heating. In order to reach the Government’s decarbonisation targets, the volume of energy efficiency projects needs to increase from 150,000 installs per year in 2021, to 500,000 in 2025 and one million per year by 2030.

“Over 90% of our buildings are heated by fossil fuels, accounting for a third of UK total gas use.  Improving energy efficiency can lower greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and other pollutants, as well as decrease water use. It can also lower individual utility bills, create jobs, and help stabilise electricity prices.”

Grants of between £500 and £5,000 are available to UK registered charities, small grassroots community organisations and social enterprises.  Please note that the Trust no longer accepts applications from government funded organisations or schools.

Eligible organisations must:

  • Be based in the UK, and
  • Have a social media presence.

The deadline for applications to the Energy Efficiency themed round is midday (12 noon) on Thursday 31 October 2024.

Further information, guidance and an online application form can be found on the Trust’s website.
