Revenue grants of up to £40,000 for first-time applicants and up to £50,000 for previously awarded applicants are available to UK charitable organisations, including Community Interest Companies, for UK-based activities and projects that support marginalised people, including women, young people, and refugees, and help build resilience to poverty.
The charity Islamic Relief Worldwide has the overarching charitable objective of the application of the humanitarian values inspired and guided by the Islamic Faith. It is a separate charity to Islamic Relief UK (charity number 1112111), which hasn’t recorded any income or expenditure in recent years. In contrast, Islamic Relief Worldwide has a grant budget of £2.4 million to allocate in 2024.
Islamic Relief Worldwide is offering grants through its UK Domestic Programme to support and invest in a thriving and diverse voluntary and community sector that brings positive change to the lives of people across the United Kingdom. The programme has the aim of transforming the lives of marginalised and vulnerable communities in the UK by funding projects that support the following key themes:
Building Resilience to Poverty, by:
- Prioritising programme delivery within disadvantaged and vulnerable communities.
- Incorporating sustainability within programme initiatives, and
- Developing the capacity of local communities to address issues of poverty.
Empowering Women and Girls, by:
- Providing economic opportunities for women.
- Supporting survivors of domestic abuse, and
- Developing the confidence and skills of women.
Supporting Refugee and Asylum-Seeking Communities, by:
- Engaging in projects that empower refugee communities socially and financially
Youth & Family Development, by:
- Engaging young people in constructive activities.
- Encouraging youth leadership and confidence-building, and
- Supporting disadvantaged BAMER (Black, Asian, Minority Ethnic, and Refugee) populations.
Grants of between £1,000 and £40,000 are available for first-time applicants over a 12-month period. depending on the project for first-time applicants, with a duration of 12 months.
Second-time successful applicants can bid for up to £50,000, with an option for multi-year funding.
Projects should commence in December 2024 or January 2025. Please note that this is a revenue grant programme, able to support such things as an organisation’s core costs, the funding of staff, equipment, and venue hire. It is open to all UK local community groups and/or faith-based organisations, registered charities (including local branches of national charities), voluntary and community organisations, registered not-for-profit companies and Community Interest Companies.
