Revenue grants up to £10,000 per-year for up to 3 years are available for registered charities and Community Interest Companies in England and Wales that are helping disadvantaged young people move into employment or become employment ready.
The Charity also offers grants of up to £2,000 to individual young people aged 16 - 26 living in England and Wales from low-income backgrounds to help them gain vocational, accredited qualifications. In its programme for individuals, grants of up to £1,500 are available to take courses (up to level 3) that will help them move into employment. Funding can be given for course fees, equipment/materials, travel costs, childcare and living costs. There are no application deadlines: applications may be made at any time.
Under its programme for charities, registered charities and Community Interest Companies may apply for a revenue grant (the charity does not fund capital projects) of up to £10,000 for each year up to a maximum period of 3 years. Grants tend to be for specific projects rather than general organisational costs. The charity will, however, consider pro-rata staffing and operational costs where this is appropriate.
The charity will prioritise charities which:
- Are based in London and Kent (the historic areas of Skinners' Company activity).
- Help young people attain a vocational qualification across England and Wales.
- Offer long-term tracking of beneficiaries, to establish quality outcomes, and
- Operate in partnership with other local organisations across England and Wales.
To apply, eligible organisations are required to contact the Charity at charities@skinners.org.uk, together with a short outline of their project. If they are considered eligible, the Charity will then contact the organisation with details about how to apply.
The Charity meets twice each year to review applications, in April and November but deadlines are around 3 months in advance of this. The next deadline is 16 August 2024.
