Grants of up to £30,000 are available to charitable organisations, including Community Interest Companies, for projects that improve the experience of being blind or partially sighted, or at risk of sight loss, in the UK
The Vision Foundation’s social impact funding supports projects that are designed to improve the experience of being blind or partially sighted, or people at risk of sight loss. The Foundation is an evidence-led funder and bases its programmes on where it believes its resources can achieve the greatest impact. The Foundation is particularly keen to hear from grassroots organisations in parts of the country where there are significant gaps in support for blind and partially sighted people, as well as those organisations that can demonstrate a strong commitment to involving experts by experience (ie blind and partially sighted people or people at particular risk of sight loss) in their work.
Grants of up to £30,000 are available for projects across the UK that:
• Address specific challenges faced by under-served groups, eg the queer community, black or Asian communities and people with multiple disabilities or learning differences.
• Equip people with practical and sustainable tools and skills that reduce anxiety about interacting in person or online, eg digital or interpersonal skills.
• Focus on the ways that challenging life events can increase loneliness and isolation for blind and partially sighted people (for example, relationship breakdown, bereavement or experiencing domestic violence and abuse).
• Increase people’s confidence in engaging in activities that reduce loneliness and isolation and improve well-being, eg cultural, physical and work-related activities.
• Reduce loneliness and isolation for people living in rural areas, and
• Support people to build and maintain healthy personal relationships that reduce feelings of loneliness and isolation.
Some examples of projects previously funded by the Foundation are on its website.
The Foundation recognises that applying for funding can be challenging, time consuming and stressful. It is actively inviting applicants to in touch with its Grants Team by emailing grants@visionfoundation.org.uk if they are unsure whether a project proposal fits the funding criteria or for help with the application process.
Further information, guidance and details about how to apply is available on the Vision Foundation’s website.
