Grants, generally for between £2,000 and £5,000, are available to UK registered charities for general charitable purposes. Charities working in the fields of disability, health and medical causes are most frequently supported.
The George John and Sheilah Livanos Charitable Trust prefers to make donations to charities whose work they have researched and which is in accordance with the aims and objectives of the Trust for the year. Potential applicants are therefore advised to contact the funding provider in the first instance to confirm eligibility.
The Trust awards one-off and recurring grants, including grants for capital projects. starting at £500 with a nominal upper limit of £50,000, although awards at this level are extremely rare. Most awards tend to be for between £2,000 and £5,000.
Unsolicited applications are accepted. However, the Trustees receive a very high number of grant applications, most of which are unsuccessful.
Previously, grants have been made to charities working in the following fields:
- Disability.
- Health.
- Hospices and hospitals.
- Medical causes.
- Maritime projects, and
- General Charitable Purposes
The Trust does not have a website. Further information about the Trust is available on the Charity Commission website.
Applications may be made at any time in writing, although – given the Trust’s limited resources and preference to research the charities it support, a letter of introduction may be the best way to make an initial approach.
