Use this page to learn about the support you can get if you're in custody as a care-experienced young person.
We will be there for you if you are in custody. We will stay in touch by visiting or writing depending on what you want.
We can also make arrangements to collect you when you are released and make sure there is a plan around housing and money when you come out of custody.
Support you can get
- We will link in with your Offender Manager to make sure you have the support you need when in custody – we will ensure your mental health is considered and Education, Employment and Training opportunities are highlighted to you.
- We will stay in touch and come and visit you whilst you are in custody, if you want us to.
- We will think about how you stay in touch with friends and family that are important to you.
- We will give you £10 per week whilst in prison.
- We will ensure we have regular planning meetings, especially near your release date (at least 3 months in advance) – this can include different services (such as Housing, your offender manager, probation and DWP Prison Work Coach) to ensure you have a clear plan for resettlement back into the community.
- We can work closely with your Probation Officer to support you back into the community.
