Public Space Protection Orders (PSPOs) on public rights of way

Use this page to find out about Public Space Protection Orders (PSPOs) on public rights of way.

What PSPOs do

PSPOs allow us to stop or limit access to places where crime and/or anti-social behaviour happens regularly. This can include public rights of way.

A PSPO can allow us to put up physical barriers, such as fences or gates.

Warning If you see a crime or anti-social behaviour on a public right of way, please call the police on 999

When we may make a PSPO

We will only make a PSPO if there is evidence that illegal activities are being carried out on the highway over a long period of time, and where there is evidence that it negatively affects the quality of life of residents.

To find out more about PSPOs, contact our Community Safety team by email at Community_Safety@bathnes.gov.uk, or contact Council Connect on 01225 394041.
