If you want to reuse information or materials that we provide following a freedom of information or environmental information request, you need to follow our guidance to ensure you do not breach copyright law.
All information we supply under the Freedom of Information Act and Environmental Information Regulations is provided through the Open Government Licence (OGL), except where otherwise stated.
Select a topic below to learn more about reusing public sector information and materials.
If you reuse text content covered by the OGL, you must include the following attribution:
“Bath & North East Somerset Council (name and date of publication), licensed under the Open Government Licence”.
If you intend to reuse extracts for news reporting, you should contact our Press Office in the first instance.
You can contact the Press Office by email or phone:
Email: communications_marketing@bathnes.gov.uk
Phone: 01225 47 71 83
If you wish to reuse or publish information that belongs to or has been created by a third party, you should seek the permission of that third party.
Our intellectual property rights, including copyright in our materials, are unaffected by our voluntary application of the OGL. These rights still belong to the council.
If you would like to reuse our materials but the proposed reuse would break any of the conditions of the OGL, please contact us at: Information_governance@bathnes.gov.uk
Images are not available for reuse under the OGL, as copyright is usually held by a third party.
We do not grant anyone the right to reuse images.
If our logos are used on documents or information, this shows that we have prepared or approved this material.
The logos are only used on materials we have created, or where we have worked in association with another organisation.
Use of any council logos without our consent infringes our copyright.
We will not grant permission for you to use or reproduce the logos in any form, unless:
- we determine the material which includes the logos is suitable for use
- the use of the logos on the material has been approved by our office
