Notice is given that Bath and North East Somerset Council in exercise of its powers under section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 intends to make an order the effect of which will be to temporarily introduce a road closure in that length of Avon Street, City Centre, Bath from its junction with A367 Corn Street extending north to its junction with James Street West. The northern part of Avon Street will also be closed from its junction with James Street West extending north for its entire length. USRN: 47900087.

This order is required because works are being or are proposed to be executed on or near the road to enable Wessex Water to replace 2 x manhole covers in the carriageway on the 27th June 2024 for a maximum period of 6 months. The road will only be restricted as and when traffic signs are in position and may not be effected for the whole of the period but only for so long as is necessary to execute the works. This is anticipated to be for ONE NIGHT between 19:00 – 07:00hrs only.

Alternative route: For closure south of James Street West: A367 Green Park Road – A367 Charles Street – A367 St Paul’s Place – A367 Monmouth Place - A4 Charlotte Street – A4 Queen Square Place – A4 Queen Square – A367 Chapel Row – A367 Charles Street – James Street West.
For closure north of James Street West: Kingsmead Square – Trinity Street – James Street West.
