Notice is given that Bath and North East Somerset Council in exercise of its powers under section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 intends to make an order to the effect of which will be to close temporarily to pedestrians, cyclists, escooters, horse riders and vehicles, suspend all parking to vehicles in the lengths of roads listed in Schedule 1 (below) and to temporarily introduce a no right turn restriction.

This order is required because works are being or are proposed to be executed on or near the road for resurfacing and associated works by Bath and North East Somerset Council on the 30th October 2023 for a maximum period of 18 months. The road will only be restricted as and when traffic signs are in position and may not be effected for the whole of the period but only for so long as is necessary to execute the works. This is anticipated to be for up to TWO WEEKS at each location.

 ALTERNATIVE ROUTE: Diversion to be clearly signed during each closure.

A4 Queen Square Lane closure (Southern Lane)

Option A: Northbound lane closure on Chapel Row, allowing traffic to travel in a southbound direction only along Chapel Row coming from Queen Square. Traffic will be prohibited from turning right from Chapel Row onto Monmouth Place. Traffic travelling northbound on the A367 Charles Street will need to turn left onto Monmouth Place and follow diversion via Charlotte Street, Queen Square Place, Queen Square, etc.

 

Option B: If traffic flow causes issues under Option A, then option B will be used with a southbound lane closure on Chapel Row, allowing traffic to travel in a northbound direction only along Chapel Row coming from A367 Charles Street. Traffic travelling southbound on Queen Square will need to follow diversion via Queen Square Place, Charlotte Street A4 Upper Bristol Road, A3604 Windsor Bridge Road, A36 Lower Bristol Road, etc.

Bathford Hill, Bathford 70m west of Church Road for a distance of 200m, stopping just east of the junction of Ashley Road. The junction area of Ashley Road to be included in the closure.
