Notice is given that Bath and North East Somerset Council in exercise of its powers under section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 intends to make an order the effect of which will be to:

  • Temporarily introduce a road closure in that length of Milsom Street, City Centre, Bath from its junction with George Street extending south to its junction with Quiet Street. USRN: 47900065
  • Temporarily suspend the prohibition of motor vehicles restriction in order to allow vehicles to use Old King Street and John Street as part of the diversion route to New Bond Street.

This order is required because works are being or are proposed to be executed on or near the road to enable Wessex Water to install new connections in the carriageway and footpath on the 11th November 2024 for a maximum period of 6 months. The road will only be restricted as and when traffic signs are in position and may not be affected for the whole of the period but only for so long as is necessary to execute the works. This is anticipated to be for FIVE NIGHTS between 20:00 – 06:00hrs only.

Alternative route: Clockwise: George Street – The Paragon – London Street – Walcot Street – Northgate Street. Anticlockwise: George St – Gay Street – Old King Street – John Street – Quiet Street – New Bond Street.
