What if you had what you needed within 15 minutes of where you lived? What would this mean for your access to things like healthcare, education, transport, work, how you spend your free time and shopping for everyday items? What role is there for technology?
All of these things relate back to the climate and ecological emergency. Having a vision of how this might look could have huge benefits in our shared goal of reaching zero carbon and fulfilling nature recovery commitments. The case might be different depending on whether you live in a rural, semi-rural or urban part of Bath and North East Somerset, how old you are and the type of work you do.
Join us for this thought-provoking online discussion and Q&A session, chaired by Stephen Hilton, one of the authors of One Shared Vision, launched earlier this year.
The panel will comprise:
- Chris Head – Chief Executive of the West of England Rural Network and Chair of the Chew Valley Area Forum, speaking about Village Agents, microcare and connected rural transport
- Jules Peck – Founding Director of Avon Mutual Bank, speaking about community banking and local investment
- Sam Ross – Green Action North East Somerset, Farmborough Parish Council and Farmborough Community Shop, speaking about access to services and facilities in rural communities
- Cllr Sarah Warren – B&NES Cabinet Member for Climate and Sustainable Travel, speaking about the collaboration between the council and community with regard to Low Traffic Neighbourhoods
The panel members will each speak on their topics for a few minutes before being asked questions by Stephen. He will then open the discussion to questions from the audience.
