If you are planning to install pavement lights into a cellar you must apply for permission to do so.
Before you start
Before you complete the application, please have the following items and information ready:
- Your name
- Telephone number
- Email address
- Address of location where the work is to take place
- Details of public liability insurance cover to a minimum value of £5,000,000 per incident.
Warning If you are not familiar with the requirements of The Highways Act 1980 – Section 171, 179, 180 (Control of openings into cellars etc. under streets, and pavement lights and ventilators), we strongly advise you to appoint a contractor with the appropriate knowledge and proof of relevant training and accreditation to help complete the application and conduct the works on their behalf.
Fees
The administration fee is £218.

Please provide at least 7 days notice before work starts. Work must not start until formal consent is received.
