Hedgemead Park

A compact but elegant Grade II listed park, nestling in a central hillside – easy to miss, but hard to forget

Although Hedgemead Park is just 6 minutes from one of Bath’s premier shopping areas, Milsom Street, you’d be forgiven for not realising that it exists at all.

This listed Victorian pleasure garden was created following a landslide that destroyed houses on its hillside site. Set among trees and elegant Georgian townhouses, Hedgemead is a hidden gem with a real sense of intimacy.

The park boasts a beautiful 1880s bandstand, with a raised walkway behind, looking onto a sloping lawn, and offering stunning glimpses of the city laid out below. This delightful 2 hectare (half acre) space is suitable for small-scale musical or theatre performances, children’s activities and events requiring minimal infrastructure.
