Up to two digital Residents Parking Permits are available per household, depending on the amount of off-street parking your property has. These permits are vehicle-specific, and will allow the registered vehicle to park in a residents-only or dual use bay for an unlimited time.

We are reviewing ways of purchasing Residents Parking Permits and the fees you will have to pay. To read the full detail, view the Council Cabinet meeting executive report, PDF. We will be holding a separate public consultation on this in the autumn of 2021. We are proposing to link permit fees to the following aspects of your vehicle, which affect the pollution it creates:
- The amount of CO2 your vehicle emits from its exhaust
- The fuel type it uses. Charges for diesel vehicles will be 25% higher than for petrol vehicles with the same CO2 emissions.
As part of this change we are also proposing to introduce new monthly and three monthly permits to provide greater affordability and flexibility for residents.
New charges will apply to all residents parking zones across Bath & North East Somerset, for all new permits purchased after charges are agreed. There will be no back-dated charges for existing parking permits.
You can also purchase Visitor Permits for people who visit you, whether or not they you have a vehicle or use a Residents Parking Permit yourself.
Residents can buy these non-vehicle-specific digital parking permits for people who visit their homes. There is a charge for these permits, and every property can buy up to 1000 hours of visitor parking per year.
Visitor permits will allow the user to park in a residents-only or dual use bay. The resident will have to activate the permit online, by text or phone, for any parking stay.
If you are a visitor and do not have a permit, you can park in a dual use bay for up to two hours.
You can buy up to two digital business parking permits. These can be made up of any combination of the following types:
-
Vehicle-specific permits for your own business vehicles to park in the zone
-
Non-vehicle-specific permits which allow visitors to your business to park in the zone
If you want to park in the zone, you will need to use a marked dual use parking bay, and can stay for up to two hours.
