How we prepare a Local Plan

This section of pages explains what goes into preparing a Local Plan: the research and consultation we will do to support its development, how long we expect it to take, and the rules and regulations we must follow. The steps and proposed timetable for the preparation of the Local Plan are set out in our Local Development Scheme.

There are statutory stages and processes that we must follow in preparing a new Local Plan. We will undertake the preparation of the Local Plan in accordance with Regulations 18 and 19 of the Town and Country Planning (Local Planning) (England) Regulations 2012.
