Following the previous Milsom Quarter Masterplan consultation in 2022, the feedback from the public and stakeholders included:
- Support for the removal of some private vehicles to create people-priority spaces.
- Need to ensure physical accessibility of the public space through the Milsom Quarter, including for Blue Badge holders.
- Requests to improve air quality and the environment in the Milsom Quarter.
- Support for greening of spaces in the city, whilst respecting the historic environment and ensuring accessibility.
In addition to this Masterplan feedback, the public space must also consider the Public Realm and Movement Strategy and the Bath Pattern Book. These policies will also feed into setting the objectives and the design work.
There are 6 clear objectives to be achieved through redesigning the public space throughout the Milsom Quarter to make it a nicer environment for everyone. These objectives are:
- Improve public space
- Complement the historic environment
- Create green spaces
- Support movement of people
- Support the new fashion Museum
- Create space for events
