(TEMPORARY PROHIBITION OF USE BY VEHICLES) ORDER 2024

Notice is given that Bath and North East Somerset Council in exercise of its powers under section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 intends to make an order the effect of which will be to temporarily introduce a road closure in that length of A3039 Northgate Street, City Centre, Bath from its junction with New Bond Street extending to its junction with Broad Street. USRN: 47913562.

Traffic will not be able to turn left from New Bond Street towards Broad Street and will only be able to turn right onto Northgate Street towards Bridge Street/Grand Parade. Traffic heading northbound on High Street will not be able to continue onto Northgate Street and will be diverted onto Bridge Street to pick up the diversion route.

This order is required because works are being or are proposed to be executed on or near the road due to a mobile crane operation to lift chillers and equipment to the roof of Waitrose on the 31^st August 2024 for a maximum period of 6 months. The road will only be restricted as and when traffic signs are in position and may not be affected for the whole of the period but only for so long as is necessary to execute the works.

Works are anticipated to be carried out over two Saturday nights between 18:00hrs – 10:00hrs on the following dates:

Saturday 31^st August (back-up date of Saturday 7^th September)

Saturday 21^st September (back-up date of Saturday 5^th October)

ALTERNATIVE ROUTE: Southbound: Broad St – A4 George St / Gay St / Queen Square – A367 Chapel Row / Charles St / Green Park Rd / Corn St / St James’s Parade – Dorchester St – Manvers St – Pierrepont St – Orange Grove – High St.

Northbound: Bridge St – Grand Parade – Pierrepont St – Manvers St – Dorchester St – A367 Broad Quay / Ambury / Corn St / Green Park Rd / Charles St / Chapel Row – A4 Queen Square / Gay St / George St.
