This briefing sets out work undertaken by Bath & North East Somerset (B&NES) Council to understand why care home deaths rates were higher than the national average during the second wave in the winter of 2020/2021. It also describes independent research underway by NIHR Applied Research Collaboration (ARC) West to look at factors associated with COVID-19 cases and deaths in care homes within the Bath and North East Somerset area.

Details

We undertook three detailed transport studies to identify strategic infrastructure required to support growth in the West of England. This study was developed following a Joint Transport Study with WECA.

This work was developed for the Local Plan, clearly setting out and evidencing how we will provide the strategic transport infrastructure to support growth in our area. The work undertaken formed part of a district-wide consultation in conjunction with the Local Plan 2016-2036 Options Consultation. Read our Local Plan

The key issues we considered were:

  • identification of key transport challenges and transport objectives in the areas of interest
  • identification and shortlisting of potential transport options to address the challenges and objectives
  • concept design and initial costing of shortlisted options
  • desk-based assessment of environmental, social, and economic impacts, and value for money of the options
  • initial assessment of financial and delivery case of the options
