Street trees project consultation

Scheme overview

We are consulting on proposed locations to plant street trees. This will increase urban canopy cover and enhance ecological corridors for nature.

We want to know how you feel about the proposed planting locations for the street trees. Your feedback will inform how we finalise the plans to improve our streetscapes.

Project aims

Planting more trees will benefit nature and our community in the following ways:

  • Slowing the impacts of climate change by absorbing and storing carbon dioxide
  • Regulating air temperature with water vapour and shade provision
  • Enhancing biodiversity by providing habitat and food for birds and pollinators
  • Minimising the effects of air pollution by absorbing some vehicle emissions
  • Helping to manage storm water by absorbing excess rainwater runoff
  • Encouraging people to enjoy the outdoors, promoting good physical and mental wellbeing
  • Improving how the streetscape looks by adding colour and texture

If our funding application is successful, we will secure the funding to progress the project and plant the proposed street trees.
