Notice is hereby given that the Bath and North East Somerset Council in pursuance of the provisions of section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 intends to make an order the effect of which will be to temporarily:


 


a)    restrict the traffic in that length of the A39, Marksbury, Bath from a point approximately 385 metres along the A39 in a easterly direction from its junction with the A39 / B3116 Two Headed Man Junction and introduce a 30mph speed limit;


b)    restrict the traffic in that length of the A39, Marksbury, Bath from a point approximately 643 metres along the A39 in a south-westerly direction from its junction with the A39 / B3116 Two Headed Man Junction and introduce a 30mph speed limit;


c)    restrict the traffic in that length of the B3116, Marksbury, Bath from a point approximately 265 metres along the B3116 in a north-easterly direction from its junction with the A39 / B3116 Two Headed Man Junction and introduce a 30mph speed limit;


d)    close the said sections of road between the hours of 7.00pm – 07.00am for a period of 3 consecutive nights only.


 

 


This order is required because works are being or are proposed to be executed on or near the road consequent upon carriageway widening and junction improvement works and to protect the safety of operatives working in the carriageway and the public by Bath and North East Somerset Council.  These works will be operative from the 14th August 2017 for a maximum period of four months. However, the restrictions may not be effected for the whole of the period but it is anticipated that the road will be restricted as and when traffic signs are in position and only for so long as is necessary to execute the works which it is anticipated will be until the 17th November 2017.


 


ALTERNATIVE ROUTE


Diversion 1: B3116 – Burnett Hill – Wellsway – Bath Road


Diversion 2: A4 – Bath Road – A39 – Wells Road – A368 – Chelwood Roundabout – A37 – New Road – Pensford Hill – Bristol Road – Wells Road – A4174 – Wootton  Park – Callington Road – West Town Lane.
